TO REGISTER A BUSINESS WITH THE TOWN OF ALFRED
(as required by either Maine State Statutes or the Town of Alfred's Ordinances); 

FIRST: go to the Code Enforcement Office at Town Hall and be sure that the business you want to open is allowed in the area of town that you want to operate your business.

AFTER CODE ENFORCEMENT APPROVAL (and/or Planning Board)
Come to the Town Clerk's Office and fill out a request to have your business listed in our Website Business Directory.

If you are planning to operate a sole proprietorship DBA or a partnership you must obtain a business permit from the Town Clerk. The fee for filing the permit is $10.00 and it is a one time fee.
